Jaffar Express: full range, frequent suspensions
Jaffar Express runs the 1,632 kilometres from Quetta to Peshawar with 37 stops and all four classes, which is why it is the only complete option on this sector. The cost is reliability. It has been suspended repeatedly through 2026, for security in Balochistan and for track maintenance, most recently on 5 and 6 September, and the Peshawar-bound service is often turned back at Jacobabad. For a Lahore to Peshawar journey the Balochistan problems are upstream of you, but they still cancel your train.
Rawalpindi is the natural halfway point
Lahore to Rawalpindi economy is Rs 1,250 on Khyber Mail, and through to Peshawar Rs 1,650.
