The Tezgam train ticket price starts at about Rs 800 for economy from Karachi to Hyderabad and reaches Rs 17,500 for an AC Sleeper from Karachi to Rawalpindi. It covers the run from Karachi Cantt to Rawalpindi via Lahore in around 26 hours, reaching Lahore in about 20. Tezgam means fast runner, and it sits in the middle fare tier with all four classes on board.

The middle tier, and what it buys

Tezgam shares its economy fare of Rs 4,900 to Lahore with Karachi Express and Karakoram Express. The Rs 1,150 premium over Khyber Mail buys a lighter stopping pattern and, in practice, better timekeeping. It is not a newer train than the mails in any dramatic sense, but it spends less of the journey standing at small stations.

Sleepers on the sectors that need them

Tezgam sells AC Sleeper berths on the Lahore sector at Rs 14,850 and the Rawalpindi sector at Rs 17,500, which are the dearest on each corridor. Khyber Mail undercuts both, at Rs 14,050 and Rs 16,550. Whether Tezgam’s shorter run justifies the extra Rs 800 or Rs 950 depends on how much the arrival time matters to you.

Poor value on short sectors

Rs 1,650 Lahore to Rawalpindi against Rs 1,100 on the railcars, and Rs 800 Karachi to Hyderabad against Rs 370 on the locals. Like every through express, Tezgam prices short hops at its long-distance tier. If your journey is contained within one of those sectors, there is almost always something cheaper.

Where Tezgam sits in the pecking order

On the Karachi to Lahore corridor, Tezgam is one of three trains at Rs 4,900, alongside Karachi Express and Karakoram Express. Karakoram is currently diverted via Sahiwal and passes to private management on 8 October 2026, and Karachi Express has an identical fare table to Tezgam. In practice, the choice between those three comes down to which one departs at a convenient hour.
