The Awam Express train ticket price starts at about Rs 750 for economy from Rawalpindi to Peshawar and reaches Rs 11,550 for AC Standard from Karachi to Peshawar. It covers the full 1,732 km length of Main Line 1 from Karachi to Peshawar in around 33 and a half hours. Awam Express, the people’s express, has been under private commercial management since the June 2026 outsourcing deal.
Short answer: Awam Express charges Rs 3,750 Karachi to Lahore, Rs 4,250 to Rawalpindi and Rs 4,900 to Peshawar in economy. AC Standard is Rs 7,600, Rs 10,750 and Rs 11,550 on those sectors. It has no AC Sleeper. Shorter sectors: Lahore to Peshawar Rs 1,650 (AC Rs 3,150), Rawalpindi to Peshawar Rs 750 (AC Rs 1,500), Karachi to Multan Rs 2,750 (AC Rs 5,900).

AC Business is sold on the southern sectors but not beyond Lahore. Fares on the PR scale in force since 9 March 2026.
Khyber Mail’s counterpart
Awam Express and Khyber Mail run the same end-to-end route on the same economy tier, but they split the air-conditioned market. North of Lahore, Awam Express sells AC Standard and Khyber Mail sells AC Business and an AC Sleeper instead. If you want the cheapest air-conditioned seat to Peshawar or Rawalpindi, Awam Express is usually it.
Under private management
Awam Express was part of the June 2026 deal that handed five trains to private commercial management for about Rs 10.75 billion. Track and crew remain with Pakistan Railways and fares remain on the PR scale; booking and on-board service may run through the operator.
