Short answer: Multan to Chiniot costs Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,600 for about five hours via Jhang. There is no motorway routing, because Chiniot sits well off the M-4 in the Jhang and Faisalabad country. If you are going to buy furniture, the freight arrangements matter more than the fare, and there is a section on that below.

Fares by operator

Multan to Chiniot ticket price by operator

A central Punjab corridor that runs through Jhang rather than on the motorway, which keeps the operator list short and the journey time honest.

Multan to Chiniot fares by operator
Bus operator Class Route Journey time Ticket price
Skyways Economy, air conditioned Via Jhang 5h 15m Rs 1,250
Faisal Movers Standard seated, air conditioned Via Jhang 5h Rs 1,400
Skyways Executive, air conditioned Via Jhang 5h Rs 1,600

Fares are indicative published prices and vary with class, season, fuel adjustments and demand. Your live, confirmed fare appears on the seat map before payment.

Or go via Faisalabad

Multan to Faisalabad is a busy corridor at around Rs 1,300 with departures through the day, and Faisalabad to Chiniot is a short local run of about Rs 300. That comes to Rs 1,600 and takes longer, so it is not a saving, but it is a real fallback when the Jhang services do not suit, and it is the routing most furniture buyers end up using because Faisalabad is where the onward freight is arranged.

Why most people make this trip

If you are going to buy furniture, plan the freight first

Chiniot is the country’s furniture town, known for carved hardwood work, and a large share of the passengers on this corridor are buyers rather than travellers.

The bus part of that trip is the easy part. The hard part is what happens after you have bought something, because a carved bed frame does not go in the luggage hold. Freight is arranged separately from your ticket, by weight and volume, and it is a different transaction with a different company on a different timescale.

The mistake people make is treating it as an afterthought. Furniture bought on a Friday afternoon with no freight arranged sits in a workshop until the buyer sorts it out remotely, which is slower and more expensive than doing it on the spot. The workshops deal with this constantly and will point you at a carrier, but only if you ask before you pay.

If you are buying

Travel out early in the week
Workshops and carriers are both easier to deal with midweek than on a Friday.
Ask about freight before you buy
The workshop will know who runs to Multan and how often.
Budget separately
Freight is priced by volume and is not a small line item on a large order.

If you are just travelling

The old town is the draw
The Shahi Mosque and the riverside quarter, both walkable from the centre.
Chenab crossing
Chiniot sits on the river, and the approach across it is the best part of the road in.
Day trip from Faisalabad
Genuinely viable, and worth considering if Faisalabad is already on your itinerary.
The real choice

Which is the best bus service from Multan to Chiniot

Two operators on the Jhang road and a Faisalabad routing that costs the same and takes longer.

Cheapest

Skyways economy

Publishes both Jhang and Chiniot on its Multan network, which makes it the operator actually running this road rather than passing near it.

From Rs 1,250

Best value

Faisal Movers

More departures through the day and a newer coach, for Rs 150 over the floor. The safer bet if your timing is fixed.

From Rs 1,400

Most flexible

Via Faisalabad

A busy first leg with departures all day, then a short local run. Same total fare, longer journey, and the routing furniture buyers usually want anyway.

About Rs 1,600

Our verdict

Take Skyways economy at Rs 1,250 on the Jhang road if you are simply travelling to Chiniot, because it is the shorter routing and the cheapest seat on it. Go via Faisalabad if you are buying, since that is where the freight arrangements are easiest to make and where you will probably be sending the furniture through regardless.

Schedule

Multan to Chiniot bus timings

A morning weighted timetable, which suits a corridor whose traffic is largely commercial.

Early morning

6:00 AM to 9:00 AM

The main block and the one to use. Arrival by early afternoon, which leaves the working day intact for workshops and counters.

Midday

10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Steady on the Jhang road. Also the best window for the Faisalabad routing, since both legs are running well.

Evening

4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Homeward traffic. Fine for arriving, but too late to get anything done at the far end the same day.

After dark

After 8:00 PM

Thin. Chiniot is not on a long haul corridor, so there is no overnight traffic passing through to keep the road served.

Five hours, and Jhang is where it slips

Multan to Jhang is about three hours on ordinary road. Jhang to Chiniot is another two across the Chenab country. Jhang is the busiest intermediate stop and a service that loads properly there adds twenty minutes, which is most of the difference between the five hour and five and a quarter hour timings.

Where to board

Multan and Chiniot terminals

Standard at the Multan end, and a compact town at the other where the stand and the workshops are close together.

Multan

General Bus Stand, Vehari Chowk
Opposite the metro bus station. The Jhang and Chiniot services load here.
Caltex Point
A Faisal Movers ticketing and cargo counter at Gaddafi Chowk. Worth knowing if you are sending goods rather than travelling.
Not the Daewoo terminal
Daewoo at Gaddafi Chowk on Khanewal Road serves the motorway corridors rather than the Jhang road.

Chiniot

Town bus stand
Central and close to the furniture quarter, which is convenient if you are buying and carrying samples.
Onward connections
Faisalabad, Sargodha, Jhang and Lalian all run from here through the day.
Worth knowing
Freight carriers operate separately from the passenger stand. Ask at the workshop rather than at the bus counter.
The road

The road to Chiniot

North east through Jhang and across the Chenab, on ordinary road the whole way. The M-4 runs nowhere near this journey.

  • Multan, Vehari Chowk Departure, km 0.
  • Shorkot road Heading north east away from the motorway corridor, km 90.
  • Jhang The main intermediate town and the usual comfort stop, km 190.
  • Chenab crossing The river approach into the town, km 285.
  • Chiniot Arrival about five hours after departure, km 300.

Why the motorway does not help

The M-4 runs from Multan toward Faisalabad and Pindi Bhattian, passing well to the east of Jhang and well to the south of Chiniot. Using it would mean going to Faisalabad first and doubling back, which is exactly the alternative routing set out above. For Chiniot itself the old Jhang road is simply shorter, even though it is slower per kilometre, and that is why the operators use it.

Cheapest way to travel from Multan to Chiniot

The Rs 1,250 Skyways seat on the Jhang road. Rail economy is cheaper at around Rs 400 but requires a change onto the Faisalabad or Sargodha line and takes seven hours or more, which is a poor trade on a five hour road journey. The Faisalabad routing costs the same as the direct fare and buys flexibility rather than savings.

Common questions

Multan to Chiniot bus FAQs

What is the Multan to Chiniot bus ticket price?

From about Rs 1,250 for Skyways economy to Rs 1,600 for executive class, with Faisal Movers standard at around Rs 1,400. Going via Faisalabad comes to roughly Rs 1,600 across two legs.

How long does the Multan to Chiniot bus take?

About five hours for 300 km via Jhang. Three hours to Jhang and another two across the Chenab country into Chiniot. Jhang is where most of the variation happens.

Is there a motorway service to Chiniot?

No. The M-4 runs east of Jhang and south of Chiniot, so using it would mean going to Faisalabad and doubling back. The old Jhang road is shorter even though it is slower per kilometre, which is why the operators use it.

How do I get furniture back to Multan?

Separately from your ticket, through a freight carrier, priced by volume. Ask the workshop before you pay, because they deal with this constantly and will point you at someone who runs to Multan. Arranging it remotely afterwards is slower and dearer.

Should I go via Faisalabad instead?

It costs about the same and takes longer, so not for a simple journey. It is worth it if you are buying, since Faisalabad is where the onward freight is easiest to arrange, or when the Jhang departures do not suit your timing.

Can Chiniot be done as a day trip?

From Multan, not comfortably, at five hours each way. From Faisalabad it is a genuine day trip, which is worth knowing if Faisalabad is already on your itinerary.
